In this work, we compare the coupling efficiency between two planar, circular apertures supporting two kinds of cylindrically polarized Gaussian beams: Bessel-Gaussian and Laguerre-Gaussian beams. The analysis assumes free space propagation, and that the apertures are within the Rayleigh range. A formula is derived for the coupling between two planar, circular apertures. In addition, exact closed-form expressions for the coupling coefficient for both beams are given, and the results verified using the multi-physics solver COMSOL.
